Not only was she successful, but she’s launched a series of cookbooks to pave the way for other healthy families. These recipes are perfect for weeknight, kidfriendly meals.

The City Baker’s Guide to Country Living

By Louise Miller

This novel opens with pastry chef Olivia Rawlings setting fire to her fancy kitchen in a swank Boston supper club, sending her life there up in smoke as well. What is there to do but cry on the shoulder of her best friend? It’s during her self-imposed exile to small town Vermont that she accepts a job at the Sugar Maple Inn, and gets swept into a plot to reclaim the the inn’s blue ribbon status at the annual county fair apple pie contest. A sweet-hearted, delicious story, from an author/ pastry chef herself.

Our Wednesday night Pop-Up Suppers celebrate some great chefs in our area who are throwing down some darn good food. The rules are simple...one dish, one price and only available while it lasts. Here’s a chance to sample from a fantastic cookbook too: Sarah Foster will be joining us from Foster’s Market, a restaurant, catering company, coffee bar, specialty foods market and Research Triangle institution. Her cookbook Foster’s Market Favorites shares the recipes for dishes that have kept folks coming back for more than 25 years. She’ll be serving Thai-Style Salmon Ginger Rice Bowl, and telling us the story behind her success.
